HOLISTIC
financial planning
Financial planning is an intricate journey that involves a few stops along the way but with the correct plan in place one will keep moving forward until the final destination is reached.
My financial planning journey began in 2004 when I was working as an engineer. I reached a point in my life where I found myself intrigued by the financial industry, particularly the investment side of things. I wanted to create my own personal wealth by doing the right things and investing in profitable portfolios and, as I delved deeper into finding these answers, I became captivated with the holistic process of financial planning and all that it encompasses.
Since 2004 I’ve built a high quality network of clients with the aim of offering tailored individual holistic financial advice. I believe this is a process that should be kept simple and easy to understand and as a result I’ve formed and developed great relationships along the way.
The decision to leave the engineering field in 2004 to pursue something completely different was a difficult one to make but one that I don’t regret for a second. Whether it’s small steps, or large leaps - you don’t have to take them alone.

1/4: In 2006 at the age of 34 I was encouraged by my broker Miguel to take out Dread Disease Cover which I somewhat reluctantly agreed to do. Little did I know how incredibly grateful I would be for taking that decision when some 6 years later in 2013 at the age of 40, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The cancer was aggressive (grade 3,) but fortunately early stage and in light of my relatively young age and the fact that my two boys were still very small (age 2 and 5 at the time,)...

2/4: ... I was advised that a double mastectomy followed by both chemotherapy and radiation were my best options. As I am self- employed and due to the very physical nature of my work (I own and run a ballet school,) I knew that I would be unable to endure major surgery followed by 7 months of intensive treatment and still meet the demands of my teaching schedule...

3/4: My Dread Disease payout enabled me to employ my teaching assistant on a full time basis for those 7 months and I was able to step away from my business so that I could focus on getting well and my family and for this I am eternally grateful. It also provided a substantial financial cushion that enabled us to cover the shortfalls on the medical bills (we only have a hospital medical plan,)...

4/4: ... and I was also able to afford complementary naturopathic treatment once my chemo and radiation therapy was finished. I can honestly say that the insurance was an absolute ‘game changer’ for me and allowed me the freedom to remove any additional stresses during that incredibly challenging and gruelling time.

Being an active and healthy 30-something, I had never thought about serious disease or not being able to work, but when I was diagnosed with cancer it quickly became a reality. Thanks to the advice and guidance from Miguel, I was covered. I've been able to provide for my family and focus on my health without financial stress. Thanks Miguel.
